The 18,000 sf Customer Center was designed to be part office space, part brand experience lab and to act as the front door for this Wearable Technology company’s urban campus and its 3,000 employees in San Francisco’s South of Market neighborhood.
Carefully crafted to allow for a variety of internal and public functions, the space features a flexible floor plan with main reception, product display galleries, recruitment interview rooms, and a UX research facility.
In the front-of-house public space, new recruits get their first welcome and are guided from the reception desk through the display gallery to their individualized interview rooms where current employees conduct employment interviews in a fully brand-specific environment.
Sleek interior finishes represent the company identity in an elegant and welcoming environment. The reception wall features biomimicry with an eye-catching 25-foot green wall, reflecting how central nature is to the company’s mission and each of its products.
Industry partners and customers visit the display gallery for product and software launches and to give valuable feedback on products. The display gallery space features digital and physical brand displays complete with a 45-foot long continuous video wall. It also includes soft seating arrangements for intimate presentation and discussion.
Important architectural considerations include the use of perforated gyp board to control acoustics in the open display gallery. Careful coordination between the design and engineering team allowed for a neat exposed ceiling to make the space seem even larger.
Throughout the Customer Center, innovative technology including built-in room scheduling devices, hidden user observation cameras, and ambient music reflect the company’s commitment to seamless technology integration in physical and digital products.
