For the Sacramento King’s office at the Kimpton Sawyer Hotel, hospitality underlined the interior design to position the office in its location contextually. The design focuses on creating a workplace that reflects the firm’s culture and responds to an understanding of diverse work styles.

Beyond the integration of the Kings’ brand colors with contemporary finishes, and soft textured fabrics, their culture dictated a surprising residential nuance with the heart of the “home” as the cafe/kitchen, a place of community and serendipitous collaboration. As in residential plans where living/dining room/ kitchen connects to private rooms, and the outdoors, this concept is echoed in the office’s milt-purpose core and its connection to private meeting spaces, open office neighborhoods, and the 6,748 SF patio. The centralized private offices with glass walls invite an abundance of natural light through to the building’s core and provide city views to staff in both private and open spaces.

Workplace choice influenced the sophisticated experience in focused and collaborative zones. Sit-stand desks, bar height tables, living walls, banquettes, and single high back chairs were selected to enhance both assigned and alternative work areas. Complete with a wet bar, and balcony access, with views of the hotel’s pool, the entry seamless transitions for entertaining indoor, outdoor, and at various scales. In the west wing, elegant executive offices and a private balcony face the tower bridge and reinforce the brand’s connection to the city. East of the lobby, crisp, subtle details broadcast brand accent colors in strategic locations washing neutral surfaces with paint and colored light. Throughout the suite, a series of casual collaborate spaces usher users to the multi-purpose core highlighted by stadia seating and a living wall.

This infusion of hospitality finesse in an office landscape elevates the user’s experience and declares the brand’s position in the city.
