The design team was inspired by Symantec’s corporate core values of ‘Stand Together’, ‘Get after it’ and ‘Dream it’ and served as the core concept for the project. Headquartered in Mountain View, Symantec consolidated their existing offices in the north bay into one San Francisco flagship workspace to host clients and accommodate their existing workforce. The workspace had to feature a collaborative space in functional alignment with their offices worldwide, as well as a Customer Briefing Center to market their Cyber Security solutions to their clients. Our interpretation is as follows:
1. Core Value: Stand Together – Strong, Diverse and passionate
a. Deign Translation: Commitment. The collective strength, diversity and passion of each team member builds trust in an ever-changing digital landscape. Commitment to safety can be seen in textured walls, strong layered materials and the powerful use of light.
i. Areas applied: Open Office conference islands.
2. Core Values: Get After it – Fast, Intentional and focused
a. Design Translation: Frontier. At the edge of tomorrow, digital security requires a fast, intentional + focused response. The landscape is ever changing and undulating towards an unknown — the new frontier.
i. Areas applied: The Customer Briefing Center and reception. The edge of tomorrow took shape as a large scale faceted architectural element that spanned the corridor. Can also be seen in the lighting for Work lounge.
3. Core Values: Dream it – Bold, Brave and Agile
a. Design Translation: Innovation. Frontier success require agile minds + bold ideas to bravely go where no one has gone before. Workplace innovation comes from a creative visual wonderland of the unexpected.
i. Areas Applied: Work lounge, Break room and Dining area.
