PayPal is at the forefront of the digital payment revolution and it’s no surprise that they believe in putting people at the center of everything they do. Our team developed a design that is inspired by their four core values – wellness, inclusion, innovation, and collaboration.

Building 15 is centered around the ability to engage anywhere throughout the building, emphasizing productivity and creativity. A key design theme – nature meets technology – activates social spaces and calms focus and wellness areas. A colorful ribbon of light weaves through the floor plate, a visual representation of the global technological connection and provides wayfinding. Carefully positioned foliage invokes biophilia.

The design is anchored by a neutral base palette, while color plays a bold role in furnishings and artwork. Furniture pieces encourage users to interact and create space that works for their needs. Locally commissioned artwork reinforces a visual identity consistent with PayPal’s culture of inclusion and social awareness.

The former space limited the ability to bring varied teams together. Now users have access to their desks and other spaces needed for collaboration across departments without the limitation of confined meeting spaces. Our open workspace is laid out in the neighborhoods to allow for multiple departments to work together in the same space and to solve problems - flexible furniture can adapt to any group.

Much consideration was given to the location and composition of each neighborhood and social anchor points, to enable the employees to modify team engagement throughout the day and dial-up focus work or collaborative work as necessary. This nimble approach provides PayPal with the speed and efficiency they need.

The result of this modern redesign is a space with plenty of opportunities for collaboration and cool, tech-savvy, funky places for employees to do their best work.
