In partnership with Salesforce, Mark Cavagnero Associates created a cohesive aesthetic that demonstrates their vision of what a 21st-century workplace environment should be while unifying and inspiring their employees. The space is tailored to the views, light and to its users.
The space optimizes the existing conditions to create a flexible work environment, and ensures that the character and care of the company is brought to bear for all customers, employees and consultants. Recognizing Salesforce’s desire to curate a consistent “at home”, MCA drew inspiration from residential spaces. We expanded the typical office kitchen to create dining rooms with farm-style tables where groups can gather for meals. Living room-inspired spaces with couches, armchairs, bookcases and flexible workspace bring a comfortable, domestic quality and scale to each office.
The concept is warm, social, energetic and convivial. It is unique to Salesforce’s vision, values, and commitment to their customers and employees. Along with natural colors, the design incorporates natural materials such as teak wood flooring for gathering spaces and slate stone flooring for circulation for clear navigation. The natural materials provide a warm hospitality environment with a residential feel.
Keeping with their innovative approach to real estate, the top floors of Salesforce’s named towers globally are called “Ohana Floors." In a typical office environment, the top floor would be dedicated to executive offices. Eschewing convention, Salesforce created Ohana Floors—open, flexible hospitality spaces that are available for employees to enjoy during the day. On weeknights and weekends, nonprofits and education groups that align with the company’s values can utilize the space at no cost. Each project finds new ways to bring nature into the work environment through prioritizing natural light and shaping the interior landscape with lush foliage and curving, organic lines.
